Byen Lampang ligger ca. 100 km fra den mere kjente byen Chang Mai. En trivelig by med et utrolig flott hestemiljø. De 120 hestedrosjene preger byen. Jeg fikk først være med på Cowboy og Indian Festival i fem dager. Så hadde Lampang Pony Welfare Foundation utstilling og show i to dager.
Jeg skal prøve å skrive lit om Lampang Pony Welfare Foundation , jeg ble imponert over hva dem har gjordt og gjør.
Siden først på 1900 tallet har Lampang hatt en lang tradisjon med hester og vogner som transport.Det er Ponyer som er hesten. Store hester hadde dem brukt i krigen. Dårlig økonomi og begrensede utdanning førte til at de fleste ponies ikke ble tatt godt vare på, men var magre og hadde tore sår på grun av mangel på veterinær. Folk føler at ponies er en del av deres liv og at de faktisk bidrar mye til deres velferd.
. LPWF startet i 2004 med tre dyrleger en fra Thailand en fra Danmark og en fra USA
Målene for LPWF er at ponni eiere lære og forstå hvordan de ordentlig kan ta vare på sine dyr.
LPWF er den eneste organisasjonen i Sørøst-Asia for ponies og hester, og som er ledet av et erfaren veterinær team.
Antall syk eller halte ponies har sunket betydelig fra 2004-2008 , heste eierenes holdning til hestene har posetift forandret seg.
Hver måned trenger dem ca. 100,000 Kroner for å kunne drive. Pengene kommer fra folk som støtter dem.
